Dr. Chen co-founded OFC with Mr. Cheng Houbo in 2006. Prior to founding OFC, Dr. Chen worked at SCG from 2000 to 2006, including serving as the president of SCG for three years from 2004 to 2006. Dr. Chen’s background before joining SCG was in academia, and he previously held the position of Dean of the Accounting Department at Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics. Academia remains an interest of Dr. Chen, and he has undertaken guest-lecturing positions at Xiamen University, Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University. In recognition of his services to private equity and small businesses in China, Dr. Chen has been awarded the positions of Vice Chairman of China Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Vice Chairman of the China Venture Capital Association. Dr. Chen was also formerly the Chairman of the Shenzhen Venture Capital Association. In further recognition of his achievements, Dr. Chen has won a number of highly respected awards, including: Forbes China’s “Top Venture Capitalists” in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011, Secutimes’ “CCVC Best Venture Capitalist” in 2009 and 2010, ChinaVenture’s 2008 “Top 10 Venture Investor in China”, “Top 10 Influential People in Finance Industry” at the 2008 China (Shenzhen) International Finance Expo, “China Top 10 Influential Venture Capitalists” at the 2005 Asia Pacific Venture Capitalist Summit, “China Best Venture Capitalist” at the 2005 China VC & PE Forum organised by Guangdong Provincial Government and Shenzhen Municipal Government, Zero2IPO Group’s 2003 “China Top 10 Domestic Venture Investors” and Zero2IPO Group’s 2002 “China Top 10 Domestic Fund Manager”, among others. Dr. Chen holds a PhD in Accounting from Xiamen University, an MBA from Nyenrode University of the Netherlands and a Bachelor of Accounting degree from Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics.
